Center Pompidou | Raymond Hains | L'Âne Vêtu de la Peau de Lion

This giant box of matches, with an illustration inspired by La Fontaine’s fable “The donkey dressed in the skin of a lion”, was an instant success with Iris Clert. Hains attributed it to two fictitious artists, Seita and Saffa. To perfect these replicas, Iris Clert acquired the powder to spread on the friction strip from the national tobacco company. "This is how I acquired two firemen to stand guard for the opening of the exhibition.
